Can anyone think of examples of governments giving foreign leaders retirement gifts?
In 1989 the Canadian government gave Ronald Reagan a horse for his retirement. Does anyone remember any similar examples?

- more tax and spend for the workers, I am against that altogether
- While I can not think of any specific examples it is considered common practice to give outgoing heads of government you are on friendly grounds with some kind of present to mark the occasion. It is as common as congratulatory gifts for the incoming heads of government. I'm sure there are some great stories out there including the horse for Reagan from Canada. You could of course inquire the White House and the USA State department as they both should have the information. www.state.gov www.whitehouse.gov
- yes. in 1945 President Harry Truman gave the leader of Japan 2 atomic bombs for his retirement
